Mailis completed the Peer Researcher Training at Open Door Group, and started working shortly after as a Peer Researcher on the Imagining Inclusion Project in 2017. With a passion for wellness and helping others, Mailis is also employed as a Peer Support Worker, and a Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) Facilitator. Currently, she is co-facilitating a resource-sharing group at Vancouver General Hospital. Prior to working in mental health, she was a freelance environmental consultant for 10 years.
For fun and excitement, Mailis loves doing yoga, writing poetry, visiting with family and friends, and relaxing in the hot springs pool at Harrison Hot Springs. She looks forward to working with the research team and all the participants.
