IMAGINING INCLUSION PROGRAMS

Peer Researcher Training Has Begun

Our Peer Researchers have been involved in all stages of the Peer Research Training from creating the curriculum,  coordinating the application process, organizing the training and teaching the program.

We are proud to announce that our Peer Researcher training is now underway. After receiving over 20 applications, we selected 12 candidates to learn all about Community-Based Participatory Research.

The Peer Researcher training was previously taught from May to July 2017 with 12 participants. Many reported that they were able to use the skills learned in training to secure employment or in their current job or volunteer position.

Quotes from our past Peer Researcher participants:

“The passion for working in mental health has hit me extremely hard and when I saw the ad for the training I thought that would be really great to do. … [at the end I saw] how some of those skills could be used in my future and to help other people in the system.”
“I found it an incredibly mind opening experience and provided a lot of theory that I hadn’t known. This showed me what is really involved at the very beginning.”
“I can see how it [training] would be useful in other areas. At first I was like, ‘oh, I have this one specific idea and it’ll look good on a resume’, and I’m already seeing how it could come into play.”
